On June 5, 1989, a young man faced down tanks advancing on Tiananmen Square in China as the media watched. He stopped the advance of a column of tanks until pro-democracy student protesters, fearing for his life, pulled him away.
While the identity of the ‘Tank Man’ is unknown, he remains a powerful symbol of what one person can do. What we can do. With courage.
