After intense lobbying by Pragmora’s global network of activists, the European Union has agreed to send an election observation mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the presidential and parliamentary elections that will be held on November 28.

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said on Tuesday that the mission, to be led by European Parliament Member Mariya Nedelcheva, will be deployed six to eight weeks before the polls. She added that the mission is being sent at the invitation of the Government of the DR Congo.
