Remove Colonists Names

RENAME. HONOUR AFRICANS. NOT COLONIALISTS.

Remove the name of the Brutes

All across the world, there are sites and cities named for colonial masters. Named for individuals who were leaders in treating Black and brown persons as less then human. Individuals who personally directed horrific atrocities or explicitly supported them. There are sites and cities named for slave owners.
Some say that changing names is trying to change history. It is not. It is a corrective. Changing names says that the colonist leaders are worthy of denigration, not honorifics. Changing the names claims the truth of history.
The Pragmora Institute has launched an online advocacy program to support those who are speaking out against the continuation of such names, starting with Lake Victoria.

African Heros and Sheros

Milton Allimadi, founder of Black Star News, is the leading moral voice calling for Lake Victoria to be re-named to honour a great African.
“Liberation begins by decolonizing the mind so let’s rename Lake Victoria after African icons like Sankara. Africans why do we in the 21st century still have a ‘Lake Victoria’ in Uganda and a ‘Victoria Falls’ in Zimbabwe? […] There are many African heroes and sheroes who deserve the honorific given to Queen Victoria, including: Kwame Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela, Julius Nyerere, Patrice Lumumba, Thomas Sankara, Samora Machel, Steve Biko, Robert Sobukwe, Kenneth Kaunda, Winnie Mandela, Nehanda, Yaa Asantewaa, Nzingah, and many others.
